The Spokane Complex Fires began on August 1 and quickly became one of the most destructive wildfire events in Spokane's history. Consisting primarily of the Old Trails, Autumn Lane, and Fairview fires, the complex forced the evacuation of more than 65,000 residents, damaged or destroyed roughly 850 to 900 structures, and displaced thousands of families across the region. Fueled by extreme heat, low humidity, and strong winds, the fires spread rapidly through populated areas, leaving behind significant damage to homes, businesses, and community infrastructure. Fortunately, firefighters have continued to make steady progress on containment, allowing some evacuation levels to be reduced as recovery efforts begin.

The response has been nothing short of extraordinary. More than 1,500 firefighters from at least 24 states, along with National Guard personnel, aircraft crews, hotshot teams, incident management teams, and local first responders, have been deployed to the Spokane area. In recent days, reports have indicated that over 2,000 firefighters have been actively engaged across the fire complex, working long shifts to strengthen containment lines, extinguish hotspots, protect remaining structures, and support ongoing recovery operations.
